If you’re like me, you’ve got a sweet tooth. Growing up in a sugar-fuelled society, it’s hard to avoid having cravings for chocolate, cake, ice-cream and all the caramel drizzled things that exist.
But the reality is sugar is kind of like a drug. It triggers your reward systems and leaves you wanting more.
These 5 ingredient plant-based brownies are the perfect hit when you fancy something chocolatey but don’t want to fill yourself with refined sugars and crap. No oven required. I’ve added orange zest & juice to give some extra zing, but if orange isn’t your thing, feel free to leave it out.
Ingredients
Makes a tray (I usually cut them up into chunks because a little goes a long way)
- 110g almond butter
- 235g dates
- 50g unsweetened cocoa powder
- 115g walnuts
- Zest of 1 orange
- Juice from 1/2 orange
- Some pecans or walnuts on top to decorate!

Method
Pre-line a brownie pan or baking tray with greaseproof paper.
Pop your walnuts into a food processor and blitz until they’re finely ground. Add the other ingredients and continue to process until it all comes together as a dough.
Place into your pre-lined tin and spread out. Decorate with some pecans or leftover walnuts!
Chill in the fridge for 3-4 hours, then slice & enjoy!
These should keep for up to a week in an air-tight container in the fridge.
